PROMO FOR INTROVERTS:
MY RESEARCH
ON SELF-PROMOTION
WITHOUT AWKWARDNESS
Operating under the alias Alisa Mullen, I’ve spent over a decade hustling in PR. From underground festivals to major art projects, I worked day and night to put the Ukrainian scene on the map, while also teaching other artists and creatives how to talk about their work.
As an artist myself, I’ve tested every self-promotion strategy on my own skin and realised there were missing pieces — nuances that sparked frustration and made even the most confident creators doubt themselves. This gap inspired my research into self-promotion, especially for introverts and those overwhelmed by the pressure to “sell” their art.
Today, my project ‘Promo for Introverts’ has grown into a personal practice, where I offer lectures, workshops, and private consultations tailored to help artists navigate the challenges of self-promotion. My goal is to provide a safe space where creatives can explore practical tools, overcome insecurities, and build confidence in promoting their work authentically.
I am also a mentor, helping artists break free from the frustration they often find themselves in when they’re unsure if they’re on the right path. This deeply intersects with the topic of self-promotion, because even when we know how to do it, we often struggle with understanding what to say, whether it makes sense, or if it’s even worth saying at all. And often, there’s no one around to provide clarity or guidance.
Beyond my private practice, I am invited to teach at various music schools and communities, such as the women’s music collective Saffron in the UK, Closer Connections in Kyiv, etc.
My mission is also to create a comprehensive, practical guide that helps artists break free from the stress of self-promotion, empowering them to communicate their projects with confidence and clarity.
